Access to a Skilled Workforce

Our close partnerships with local schools and universities throughout Grafton County are essential to reaching our goals for retaining and growing a skilled labor force.

In support of this initiative, we have invested in the North Country Workplace Education Program, a high school workforce program that seeks to provide students with access to on-the-job training through competency-based internships.

Additionally, our involvement with two business incubators across the state, Dartmouth Regional Technology Center and the Enterprise Center at Plymouth, seek to prepare college graduates for diverse new job opportunities to better meet employer demands and support a competitive business environment.

Woodstock Inn & Brewery - Grow your Business

The Woodstock Inn started a small micro brewing operation in 1995 and began distributing its branded brew in 2000. Demand quickly grew, which forced the inn to outsource most of its production off-site.

As sales for its now nationally awarded beers continued to rise, the owners decided to bring the entire brewing operation in-house. GRDC stepped in to support this growth opportunity with a $245,000 loan to complement some funding from a local bank. With this capital, the business was able to significantly cut the production cost of its beer while affording the flexibility of expanding the product line.

The addition of a new banquet room and expanded seating improved the restaurant traffic flow and made is easier to meet the growing demand for weddings and other functions. The business was also able to take advantage of tax credits and grants to install solar components for better energy efficiencies.

“The Brewery and Restaurant expansion has enabled us to increase company sales by over 20%, add 18 new jobs, and update all of our older HVAC systems. Also, the addition of a brewery function room now allows us to host over 45 weddings a year.”
